About Rotary....
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal
of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage
and foster:
FIRST:
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND:
High
ethical standards in business and professions;
recognition
of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying
of each
Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to service society.
THIRD: The application of the ideal of
service in each Rotarian’s personal,
business, and community life;
FOURTH:
The
advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and
peace
through a world fellowship of business and professional persons
united
in the ideal of service.
What is Expected of a Rotarian...
There are
two responsibilities of a member of the Rotary
Club
of Lincolnton Sunrise and Rotary International: First is ATTENDANCE;
the second is PARTICIPATION. Each member
is expected to strive for
100% attendance, either at the regular weekly
breakfast Meetings, by
making up the missed meeting at another Rotary Club, at an
official
club meeting, or district/Rotary International function. In
addition, each
member is expected to support
each project or fundraiser
approved by
the Board of Directors with enthusiasm and hands–on
participation, as
well as financially within his/her means. Each member is
also
encouraged to become a Sustaining Member of The Rotary
Foundation.
Finally, each member is expected to conduct his/her
actions in accordance with the FOUR WAY TEST of Rotary and
to live the
OBJECT OF ROTARY.
Attendance
and Participation...
Members who are absent
from three consecutive meetings,
will be reminded of their commitment
with a notification letter. Upon
absence of the fourth meeting, it
is understood that the member has
forfeited his
or her membership.
